As an invention, donuts are up there at the top. Maybe flight is better, but only by a fraction.
Took a weekend trip to upstate NY this summer and found a coffee and donut shop (they did other stuff, but who cares) that had this awesome little machine doing one piece flow donuts – form, fry, coat. A few of each on display, all still warm when you picked them up. And they made some heavenly little puffs. Not too fancy with the coating, just enough varieties.
